McCormick calls for the Trump tax cuts to be permanent, once again selling out Pennsylvanians for his own bottom line
PENNSYLVANIA — During this morning’s GOP forum in Erie, Connecticut hedge fund executive David McCormick voiced his support for making the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent, which disproportionately benefit the uber wealthy (aka McCormick) and large corporations while threatening cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Jack Doyle issues the following statement:
“During today’s GOP forum, David McCormick came out in support of tax cuts that put more money in the pocket of corporations and wealthy insiders like himself while threatening cuts to Social Security and Medicare. First McCormick made a fortune on his ties to China and outsourcing Pennsylvania jobs, and now he wants to give the wealthiest more tax breaks while threatening critical programs Pennsylvanians rely on. Pennsylvanians cannot trust David McCormick to represent them in the Senate.”
The AARP on the Trump tax cuts:
“We remain deeply concerned by the negative effect the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will have on the nation’s ability to fund critical priorities. The tax legislation will increase the deficit by approximately $1.5 trillion over the next ten years, and an unknown amount beyond 2027. The large increase in the deficit will inevitably lead to calls for greater spending cuts, which are likely to include dramatic cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and other important programs serving older Americans.”
