New York Times: This G.O.P. Senate Candidate Says He Grew Up on a Family Farm. Not Exactly.
WHYY: David McCormick Claims He Created ‘Hundreds of Jobs’ in Pennsylvania. Records Suggest Otherwise
PENNSYLVANIA — Today, state Senators Sharif Street and Vincent Hughes joined Philadelphia City Councilmembers Rue Landau, Mike Driscoll, and Jim Harrity to kick off the Pants on Fire tour calling out David McCormick’s dishonest record.
They highlighted McCormick’s lies about where he lives and where he’s from, his anti-choice agenda including support for an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest, and his record of investments in China.
“We can’t trust a guy who has spent his whole time as a hedge fund guy trying to shift investments overseas,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chair Senator Sharif Street. “He doesn’t care about Pennsylvanians. He doesn’t live in Pennsylvania.”
“David McCormick supports a dangerous anti-choice agenda that would take away women’s right to make decisions about their own bodies,” said state Senator Vincent Hughes. “He said he would be ‘very, very happy’ about Roe v. Wade being overturned and celebrated when it was. Pennsylvania women can’t trust him to protect their reproductive rights.”
“Women’s reproductive healthcare decisions belong between them and their doctor,” said Philadelphia Councilmember Rue Landau. “David McCormick thinks politicians should get in the way by supporting dangerous abortion bans that threaten women’s access to reproductive care.”
“Pennsylvania workers cannot trust David McCormick and his long record of killing American jobs and shipping them overseas,” said Philadelphia Councilmember Mike Driscoll. “He has consistently put his own bottom line ahead of Pennsylvania workers.”
“David McCormick has a disastrous record of investments in China,” said Philadelphia Councilmember Jim Harrity. “We can’t trust someone who is willing to put profits ahead of Pennsylvanians by investing in China’s largest fentanyl producer the same year more than 4,000 Pennsylvanians died from fentanyl overdoses or pump money into blacklisted Chinese military companies.”
