Here’s what we dropped off at Pat Toomey’s office today:

Earlier this month, tens of thousands of students graduated from Pennsylvania’s colleges with a hard-earned degree — and a mountain of debt.

Pennsylvania’s students have the third-highest student loan debt in the country, averaging $33,264 for every 2014 graduate. Yet, Pat Toomey has consistently supported legislation that worsens the position of college students and sided with the Wall Street banks that profit from predatory student lending.

Over one-thousand Pennsylvanians signed a petition calling on Toomey to help his constituents struggling with student loan debt.

Today, we hand delivered those names demanding action on student loan reform to Pat Toomey’s offices in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh:

Pennsylvanians from each of the sixty-seven counties added their names next to yours to tell Pat Toomey that it’s time to work to provide relief for Americans still paying back their student loans.

PA Students

It was heartening to see not only how so many Pennsylvanians care about students struggling with unreasonable amounts of debt, but also how they translated their thoughts and words into action.

We hope Toomey will listen to your calls. And we’ll keep reminding him of the concerns of Pennsylvanian students every chance we get.
