PENNSYLVANIA — As the Fourth of July approaches, thanks to the success of President Biden’s vaccination program and relief efforts, and without the help of a single Republican, Pennsylvania is coming back.
Our recovery comes due to getting people vaccinated quickly, efficiently, and equitably. Nearly 6 million Pennsylvanians have stepped up and rolled up their sleeves to get the shot. Over 74% of adults in the state have received their first dose of the vaccine, and more than 55% are fully vaccinated. Pennsylvania is the tenth state in the nation to reach President Biden’s goal of a 70% adult vaccination rate. Since President Biden took office, 300 million COVID-19 vaccine shots have been administered nationwide.
When President Biden took office,over 3,000 Americans were dying from COVID-19 per day. Now, we’re down to fewer than 300. In January, more than 117,000 Americans were hospitalized from COVID-19 per day. Now, it’s less than 2,000. In Pennsylvania, COVID-19 cases are down 96% and deaths are down 94%.
“Last Fourth of July, Pennsylvanians were separated from one another, living in fear as the coronavirus pandemic surged across the country. Now, Pennsylvania is coming back together, and it’s thanks to President Biden, Governor Wolf and Democrats in Congress,” said Rosie Lapowsky, Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson. “Families across the commonwealth are gathering together again to celebrate our nation’s birthday. This incredible progress is due to the success of the Biden Administration’s historic vaccination program, and it will only get better from here.”
