AS BIDEN VISITS PITTSBURGH TO TOUT BENEFITS OF BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE LAW, GOP SENATE FIELD STANDS IN OPPOSITION

GOP Senate field continues to oppose funding for improvements

PENNSYLVANIA — Today President Joe Biden is coming to Pittsburgh to tout the benefits of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, including the recently announced Bridge Formula Program, which will bring  $327M for bridge funding in Pennsylvania in FY2022 alone and $1.6B over the next five years.

Despite the important benefits the program brings to Pennsylvania, the GOP Senate field, including Connecticut hedge fund executive David McCormick, are against it. Kathy Barnette called it “disgraceful.” Jeff Bartos openly opposed it, while Carla Sands called it “socialist” legislation she needs to “protect” Americans from.

Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Jack Doyle issued the following statement:

“While the GOP Senate field is focused on attacking each other and appeasing the most extreme parts of the base, the White House and Democratic majorities are delivering for Pennsylvanians. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will provide much needed funding for Pennsylvania’s bridges, roads, and broadband, as well as bring quality jobs to the commonwealth. If the GOP Senate field had their way, we wouldn’t be getting anything.”
