Mike Hanna is a State Representative from Pennsylvania’s 76th legislative district and is running for re-election this November. He has taken a position of leadership as the Democratic Whip for the House, responsible for making sure all Democratic house members are in attendance for voting on important legislation.
As a lifelong resident of Clinton County, Mike has been an active member of and leader within the community. He graduated from Lock Haven High School and Lock Haven University, and is a member of the Clinton County Economic Partnership, the Western Clinton County Sportsman Club, and a former member of the Lock Haven Board of Trustees, among other organizations.
During his time serving as representative Mike has consistently championed economic opportunity, public education, fiscal responsibility, and protecting our natural resources. He served 4 years as Chairman of the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, serves on the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Governing Board, and is one of 5 voting members on the House Bipartisan Management Committee.
Mike has displayed statewide leadership in his efforts to fund our state schools, colleges, and universities. He voted against a billion dollar cut to basic education, led the effort to keep tuition low by opposing the 20% cut to higher education under the previous administration, and has been recognized as one of the strongest advocates for Lock Haven University and Penn State.
He also works to bring family-sustaining jobs to his district. When International Paper closed their Lock Haven facility in 1999, Mike worked with First Quality Tissue to purchase and develop their site, which now employs 400 workers on-site, and 1,700 workers countywide. He also partnered with the governor to bring hundreds of jobs to SCI Benner and the Benner Industrial Park.
