Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Marcel L. Groen issued the following statement after watching the first presidential debate from the audience at Hofstra University:
“Hillary Clinton proved without a shadow of a doubt tonight that she is the only candidate who is ready to step into the Oval Office on January 20, 2017. At the end of the day, this debate was about the candidate who is most capable of governing; Hillary Clinton is that candidate.
Hillary Clinton has been working on important issues for her entire adult life, and she has never given up. She has defended women’s rights in China, guaranteed the right to children’s healthcare, fought for children and families in Arkansas, and projected smart power abroad. She’s always been with us. This country has never had a more experienced or more qualified candidate for President of the United States, and the facts laid bare tonight only prove that.
Donald Trump brings nothing but bluster and simple solutions to complex problems. We never know which Trump we will get day to day. Will we get the Trump that admires dictators like Vladimir Putin? Or the Trump that pays off attorneys general to drop investigations into his fraudulent university? And what is Donald Trump paying in taxes?
Tonight I had the honor of watching the first presidential debate at Hofstra University. I witnessed the most qualified candidate to run for president debate the least qualified, most dangerous, condescending, and disrespectful candidate to run for president in history. It cannot be more clear; Hillary Clinton is ready — she always has been — and she’ll be ready to step into the Oval Office on day one.”
