Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Marcel L. Groen issued the following statement:
“The failure of this heartless health care plan is a testament to the millions of people across the country who spoke up, said that this was unacceptable, and reaffirmed that every American should have access to affordable quality, health care. This was a disastrous piece of legislation would have increased costs for working families, kicked seniors out of their nursing comes, stripped care from women, people with pre-existing conditions, and those suffering from a substance use disorder, charged an age tax on older Pennsylvanians, and made prescription drugs unaffordable for millions.
“This plan, crafted in secret by Republicans and without the input of Democrats or the medical community, rejected common sense solutions. It’s more clear than ever that Republicans need to stop their political games and work across the aisle to find bipartisan solutions that would increase access to care, drive down prices, and improve quality health care for all.
“In a society as rich as ours, health care should be a right for all people. Democrats will not stop fighting these dangerous health care plans and will continue to try to work across the aisle to find solutions that would ensure that every American has affordable health care.”
