Congressman Barletta Refuses To Denounce Racism, White Supremacy in Charlottesville

Barletta’s Silence Raises More Questions

Congressman Barletta has refused to join Republicans and Democrats around the country in unequivocal condemnation of racism, anti-Semitism, and the white supremacist terror displayed in Charlottesville. Deciding whether or not to condemn neo-Nazis should not be difficult, and yet Congressman Barletta has been unable to meet that minimum threshold of human decency. The fact that David Duke previously endorsed Barletta makes the Congressman’s silence all the more troubling.

  • Does Congressman Barletta agree with President Trump that there are ‘very fine’ people in white supremacist organizations like the Klu Klux Klan?

  • Does Congressman Barletta agree with President Trump that neo-Nazis and those protesting them are morally equivalent?

  • Why has Congressman Barletta failed to join his fellow Republicans in denouncing the hatred, racism, and anti-Semitism demonstrated in Charlottesville?

“It’s unacceptable that Congressman Barletta has failed to join his fellow Republican Senate candidates in unequivocally denouncing the racism, bigotry, and white supremacist terror witnessed in Charlottesville last weekend,” said Sinceré Harris, executive director of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. “Despite being personally recruited to run by Trump, Congressman Barletta can’t hide behind the President’s abject moral failure in the wake of these events. The people of Pennsylvania deserve to know why a man who wants to be their next Senator cannot bring himself to condemn neo-Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan.”
