Despite Bipartisan Outrage, Meehan Refuses To Condemn Trump’s Discriminatory Refugee Ban

Even as Republican Congressmen like Charlie Dent and Brian Fitzpatrick Speak Out, Meehan Has Refused to Stand Up to Trump

In an Apparent and Desperate Move to Secure Trump’s Blessing for His Potential Senate Bid, Meehan Is a Profile in Cowardice on Discriminatory Refugee Ban

Despite growing bipartisan outrage over President Donald Trump’s discriminatory refugee ban, Representative Pat Meehan has refused to condemn it. Even as his Republican colleagues like Representatives Charlie Dent and Brian Fitzpatrick condemned the discriminatory ban, Meehan has been in hiding since Friday, refusing to stand up to President Trump. In an apparent and desperate move secure President Trump’s blessing for his potential Senate bid, Meehan has been a profile in cowardice when it comes to President Trump’s discriminatory refugee ban.

“Even as Republicans in the House and Senate condemn President Trump’s discriminatory refugee ban, Pat Meehan has remained silent. Shame on him,” said Brandon Cwalina, spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. “It’s now clear that Representative Meehan will only criticize Donald Trump in the days leading up to an election when both of their names are on the ballot. It appears that in exchange for President Trump’s blessing of his potential Senate bid Pat Meehan has turned his back on the most basic of American values. Pat Meehan’s behavior is the ultimate profile in cowardice.”
