GOP PA SENATE CANDIDATE PUBLICLY OPPOSES MCCONNELL AS LEADER: WHERE DOES THE REST OF THE FIELD STAND?

While George Bochetto has made his position clear, the rest of the field’s ties to McConnell make the GOP civil war even messier in PA Senate primary

PENNSYLVANIAIn an interview on the John Fredericks Show, GOP Senate candidate George Bochetto told Mitch McConnell to “Take a hike”, making it clear he would oppose him as leader if he became Pennsylvania’s next Senator.

The pronouncement begs the question, where does the rest of the field stand in the GOP’s messy “civil war”?

Hedge fund executive David McCormick has actually donated to McConnell in the past, and New Jersey daytime TV host Mehmet Oz lobbied for the Senate Minority Leader’s support earlier this year, pitching McConnell on his candidacy in meetings in DC.

Pennsylvania Democratic Party Spokesperson Jack Doyle issued the following statement:

“Mitch McConnell is the number one reason for dysfunction in Washington. McConnell led the charge to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which would cause health care costs to skyrocket for Pennsylvanians and he has blocked common sense gun violence prevention legislation like universal background checks. Pennsylvanians deserve to know if the Republican Senate candidates are going to vote to put McConnell back in charge of the Senate.”
