PENNSYLVANIA — Governor Wolf and Physician General Rachel Levine reminded Pennsylvanians that naloxone, a drug used to stop the effects of a heroin overdose, is available to everyone in Pennsylvania without a prescription. More than 1000 Pennsylvanian lives have been saved from a heroin overdose since Dr. Levine signed a standing prescription for naloxone in fall 2015.
Governor Wolf authorized the Pennsylvania State Police and school districts to carry naloxone in order to respond to heroin overdoses. He also proposed $34 million in additional funding to respond to the opioid epidemic.
