ICYMI: Peters endorses Shapiro for attorney general

Josh Shapiro will be an attorney general who will tackle issues that know no party, and more Republicans are noticing. Shapiro previously received the endorsement of Lehigh County’s five-term Republican DA, Jim Martin. Now, Joe Peters, the primary challenger for the GOP’s Attorney General nomination, is just the latest in a list of bipartisan endorsements Shapiro has received this year.

Former Republican attorney general candidate Joe Peters endorsed Democrat Josh Shapiro for state attorney general today.

Mr. Peters, who lost the primary election to Republican state Sen. John Rafferty, said he carefully studied both candidates.

“I believe Josh Shapiro will surround himself with the best advice from police and prosecutors, and place the safety of all Pennsylvanians as his top priority,” Mr. Peters said in a statement issued by Mr. Shapiro’s campaign. “I’ve seen it all — from being a beat cop in Scranton to serving as Pennsylvania’s top drug prosecutor and convicting the mob in Philadelphia — and I know our next Attorney General must be innovative, possess broad legal knowledge and have executive experience, which is why I’m voting for Josh Shapiro.”

The election is Nov. 8.
