PENNSYLVANIA – In his latest interview with NBC News, TV quack Mehmet Oz could not defend or even discuss his own record on camera because it is so out-of-touch with Pennsylvania voters.
The truth is that Oz would be dangerous for Pennsylvania: he opposes a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, rejects common sense gun safety measures (while failing in the interview to name a single piece of legislation he would support to make Pennsylvania safer), and cannot hide from his record as a quack doctor who will say, do, and sell anything to help himself.
See for yourself:
1. Oz continued to refuse to say how he would vote on Lindsey Graham’s national abortion ban.
What Oz said to NBC (WATCH):
- NBC News’ Dasha Burns on Sen. Lindsey Graham’s national abortion ban: “So can you tell us right now, yes or no on that bill?”
- Oz: “I’m giving you a bigger answer than yes or no.”
What Oz’s record shows:
- Philadelphia Inquirer: Mehmet Oz called abortion ‘murder’ during the Pa. Republican Senate primary, recording shows. “Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Mehmet Oz called abortion ‘murder’ during a campaign event.”
- NBC News: Mehmet Oz in May audio: Abortion is ‘murder’ at any stage of pregnancy. “‘I do believe life starts at conception, and I’ve said that multiple times,’ Oz, a Republican, said at the time in a tele-town hall, going on to add: ‘If life starts at conception, why do you care what stage our hearts starts beating at? It’s, you know, it’s still murder, if you were to terminate a child whether their heart’s beating or not.’”
2. Oz doubled down on his opposition to common sense gun safety measures and could not name a single bill he’d support to make Pennsylvania safer.
What Oz said to NBC (WATCH):
- NBC News’ Dasha Burns: “Is there any gun control measure that you would support in Congress? […] Red flag laws, things like that?”
- Oz: “It’s not red flag laws. They, I have major concerns about those because they can be misused.”
What Oz’s record shows:
- Daily Item: Mehmet Oz: We must protect our Second Amendment. “As Pennsylvania’s next U.S. Senator, I will oppose red flag laws, universal background checks, and any gun control measure that infringes upon the Second Amendment.”
- Fox News: Dr. Oz denies writing gun control advocacy columns, business partner claims authorship. “‘He does not support any measures that infringe on the Second Amendment and will oppose them,’ Oz’s campaign told Fox News Digital in an exclusive statement.”
3. Oz would not address his history of being a quack doctor who will do, say, and sell anything to help himself – no matter who gets hurt.
What Oz’s real record shows:
- The Washington Post: As TV doctor, Mehmet Oz provided platform for questionable products and views. “Oz provided a platform for potentially dangerous products and fringe viewpoints, aimed at millions of viewers, according to medical experts, public health organizations and federal health guidance.”
- The New York Times: ‘Magic’ Weight-Loss Pills and Covid Cures: Dr. Oz Under the Microscope. “The celebrity physician, a candidate in Pennsylvania’s Republican primary for Senate, has a long history of dispensing dubious medical advice on his daytime show and on Fox News.”
