It’s not over yet. As we suspected, Republicans in Washington have revived their dangerous health care repeal plan that would be absolutely devastating to Pennsylvanians. This plan, like the ones before it, will increase costs on seniors and force them to lose care, cut off access to health care for women, and strip protections for people with pre-existing conditions. A report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities says the plan would also cut $850 million from Medicaid by 2026. Yet Paul Mango and Scott Wagner are still backing the plan. Paul Mango even recently met with one of the plan’s architects, Rick Santorum, to discuss this disastrous plan.
“Why are Paul Mango and Scott Wagner so hell-bent on kicking seniors out of their nursing homes, sending premiums skyrocketing, and stripping coverage from women, seniors, and people with pre-existing conditions?” asked Beth Melena, communications director for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. “Simply put, Paul Mango and Scott Wagner want to see Pennsylvanians’ health care decrease in quality, increase in cost, and be unattainable for many. They are on the wrong side of this issue and the people of Pennsylvania will hold them accountable for standing for the status quo and refusing to stand up to the wrongheaded Republican health care policies coming out of Washington.”
