Pat Meehan On PA Senate Race: “Lots Of Rich People Have Asked Me To Enter The Race”

The old saying goes that a gaffe is when a politician accidentally tells the truth. In newly released comments from his trip to Pennsylvania Society’s annual weekend gathering in New York City, Pat Meehan told a reporter from the Huffington Post the truth about his record, his values and what motivates his agenda when asked about a potential run for the U.S. Senate:

“Lots of rich people have asked me to enter the race.” Congressman Pat Meehan

…literally that’s what he said. Read it here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/laura-goldman/jay-z-nyc-firefighters-ha_b_13756506.html

“It’s no surprise that those at the very top are begging radical Congressman Pat Meehan to run for U.S. Senate so he can further stack the deck against middle class Pennsylvanians,” Brandon Cwalina, spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party said. “Radical Meehan’s agenda is clear: a massive tax cut for those at the top at the expense of the middle class, an end to the guaranteed benefit of Medicare and a rolling back of rules for Wall Street so financiers can make the same risky bets that brought the economy down in 2008.”

Radical Pat Meehan’s agenda for “lots of rich people”

  • Massive tax cuts for those at the very top instead of the middle class

  • A repeal of the Wall Street reform law that protects middle class Pennsylvanians from reckless behavior on Wall Street

  • An end to the guaranteed benefit of Medicare

  • Cutting nursing home funding for 200,000 Pennsylvania seniors by block granting Medicaid

  • Passage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal that will ship the jobs of middle Pennsylvanians overseas

  • A repeal of the Affordable Care Act which will reduce taxes on millionaires

“Pat Meehan revealed who he truly is: a radical politician whose agenda is driven by and for “lots of rich people,” Cwalina added.
