Moore’s Defeat Does Not Erase Barletta’s Record Of Silence And Complicity

From Trump to Moore, Congressman Barletta Stands with Republicans Accused of Sexual Assault

Once again, Congressman Lou Barletta chose silence and complicity instead of taking a stand and doing the right thing. From the Alabama Senate race to the Access Hollywood tape, Barletta believes that when it comes to allegations of sexual harassment or assault, partisan loyalty trumps justice for victims.

“Congressman Barletta’s record of silence and complicity is clear,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesman Max Steele. “Barletta proudly defended Donald Trump after numerous victims came forward to corroborate the sexual assault he bragged about on video. Barletta even went as far as to say he was ‘so upset’ that Republicans found Trump’s conduct inexcusable and said those dropping their support were making a ‘big mistake.’

“Congressman Barletta also repeatedly refused to unequivocally condemn his fellow senate candidate Roy Moore who stood accused by multiple victims and witnesses of sexually preying on teenage girls. Barletta has also remained silent in the face of multiple sexual harassment allegations again his House Republican colleague Blake Farenthold, who reportedly runs his office like a ‘frat house on the Hill.’

“As these last few months have shown, when one of Congressman Barletta’s Republican colleagues stands accused of sexual harassment, assault, or even child molestation, they know they can count on Barletta to either stay silent or have their back. Pennsylvanians deserve better.”
