On American Rescue Plan Anniversary, Biden In Philadelphia Delivering For Pennsylvanians

PENNSYLVANIA — President Joe Biden is in Philadelphia today on the anniversary of the signing into law of the American Rescue Plan—a package that is providing over $17 billion in relief for Pennsylvania and was opposed by every Republican in Congress.

While Democrats keep fighting for economic recovery and growth across the commonwealth, Republicans continue to push their agenda of tax hikes and raised premiums. The GOP’s economic plan – which they have promised to pass if successful in this year’s midterm elections – would raise taxes on 35.6 percent of Pennsylvanians. And GOP Senator Ron Johnson confirmed that Republicans are still committed to repealing the Affordable Care Act and jeopardizing Pennsylvanians’ health care.

In contrast to Republican attacks, here are just a few ways the American Rescue Plan has delivered for Pennsylvania in the past year:

  • Lowering health care costs for over 374,000 people in Pennsylvania.
  • Investing over $1.3 billion in Pennsylvania students so universities and colleges could remain open and students had additional funding to pay for the supplies they needed. This is one of the largest one-time infusions of funding ever provided to the commonwealth’s colleges and universities.
  • Providing crucial support to Pennsylvania  families through the Child Tax Credit that alleviated financial burdens and helped caregivers put food on the table, buy new school supplies, and pay for emergencies. This helped 2,351,000 Pennsylvania children and 1,412,000 families across the commonwealth.

In spite of Republicans’ efforts to push the GOP’s tax hikes and raised premiums, Pennsylvania Democrats will continue delivering for the commonwealth.
