One Year Ago Today: Pennsylvania’s Anti-Planned Parenthood, Pro-Shutdown Senator Showed His True Colors

Happy anniversary to Senator Pat Toomey! One year ago today he joined the most extreme Republicans in the Senate to try to shut down the government over funding for Planned Parenthood.

Never mind that Pennsylvania’s 13 Planned Parenthood clinics serve more than 100,000 women every year.

…Or that 18,000 Pennsylvania women a year receive potentially lifesaving breast exams at Planned Parenthood.

…Or even that most Republicans thought it was a terrible idea to risk shutting down the government over funding for this organization.

Because when it comes to denying women access to critical healthcare or refusing them the freedom to make their own reproductive choices – even if it means throwing doctors who perform abortions in jail – Pat Toomey is ON IT.
