The Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, after receiving a recommendation from the Bucks County Democratic Committee, voted to nominate a candidate for the special election in the 178th House District, which will be held on May 15, 2018. The committee nominated Helen Tai as the Democratic Party’s candidate for the special election.

“The people we elect to Harrisburg should be people who will work to make their community better, which why I am proud to announce that Helen Tai will be our nominee for the 178th House District. In her four years as Solebury Township Supervisor, Helen has improved the lives of her constituents by prioritizing the environment and health and working to ensure transparency in all township matters. She will be an excellent advocate for the people of Bucks County in Harrisburg.”

Executive Director of the Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee, Nathan Davidson, released the following statement:

“Helen Tai is a true public servant who has a record of putting people before politics and the Pennsylvania House Democratic Caucus is thrilled to support her in the 178th district. After the shocking 2017 election results when Central Bucks County voters elected an unprecedented number of Democrats to represent them at the municipal and Countywide level, it is clear that the voters of the 178th are hungry for change. House Democrats will be fighting hard to ensure that Helen becomes the first woman to represent the 178th district.”
