PA DEMS LAUNCH “DON’T BE CAUGHT NAKED” VOTE BY MAIL EDUCATION CAMPAIGN IN PHILADELPHIA

Sen. Casey to help raise awareness of secrecy envelopes for vote by mail ballots

PENNSYLVANIA – Tomorrow the Pennsylvania Democratic party is kicking off its “Don’t Be Caught Naked” campaign to raise voter awareness about the need to use the secrecy envelope when returning their ballot by mail – ensuring their ballot isn’t deemed “naked” and disqualified. The event will feature Sen. Bob Casey and Chairman Sharif Street. It will take place at the West Philadelphia field office.

If voting by mail, voters must remember to take the following steps:

  • Complete your ballot in black or blue ink.
  • Seal the ballot in the smaller secrecy envelope, then place it in the larger return envelope. If you do not place the ballot in the secrecy envelope, your vote won’t count.
  • Sign, date and complete the voters’ declaration on the outside of the larger return envelope.
  • Mail your ballot or return it in person to an official drop-off location. Check Iwillvote.com/PA to find out where you can drop off your ballot.

“Voting by mail is a convenient and reliable way for Pennsylvanians to fulfill their civic duty and make their voices heard. We need to ensure voters across the commonwealth are properly informed about the steps they need to take to make sure their vote is counted,” said Senator Bob Casey. “Pennsylvania is home to some of the most consequential races in the country this year and every vote counts.”

The event will be a kickoff to a statewide voter education campaign.
