Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Marcel L. Groen issued the following statement:
“We wish we could celebrate the election of Hillary Clinton and Katie McGinty. But the people of the United States and the people of Pennsylvania have spoken, and we respect their decisions. So we will work with President-elect Trump and Senator Toomey, because that is how we work in the United States of America.
“Hillary Clinton represents the very best of us; her commitment as a public servant is unrivaled. I know that Hillary Clinton will not let this setback stop her from fighting for us in whatever capacity she chooses. Katie McGinty inspired us to ensure that all Pennsylvanians get ahead. We will make sure that this happens, regardless of who is in the White House.
“I congratulate our row officers for sweeping the statewide races. Attorney General-elect Josh Shapiro, re-elected Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, and Treasurer-elect Joe Torsella will make Pennsylvanians proud by fighting for them every single day.
“Every Democrat on the ballot ran a passionate race that put the people of Pennsylvania first, and I thank them for running.
“It was an honor to have been able to vote for Hillary Clinton and Katie McGinty. We wish the results of this election were different. But, as Secretary Clinton said, ‘never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it.’
“We will fight on.”
