Pennsylvania Democratic Party Statement on Third Anniversary of American Rescue Plan

Today, on the three-year anniversary of President Biden signing the American Rescue Plan into law, Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chair Senator Sharif Street released the following statement:

“Three years ago today, President Biden signed the historic American Rescue Plan into law to put Pennsylvania on track to recover from the pandemic and kickstart our great American comeback. By providing critical, direct relief to Pennsylvanians, the American Rescue Plan paved the way for the robust economic growth and progress we’re seeing today – but every single Republican in Congress voted against this legislation and ultimately put Pennsylvanians last. As Trump and MAGA Republicans threaten to roll back our progress by pushing to raise costs on the middle class, gut the Affordable Care Act, and make life harder for working families, President Biden and Vice President Harris are staunchly committed to fighting for Pennsylvania families’ futures.”

Here’s a reminder of how President Biden’s American Rescue Plan delivered for Pennsylvanians and kicked off the great American comeback:

  • Helped get more than 200 million vaccines in arms in less than 100 days to stop the spread of COVID-19 and help the country move forward to recovery.
  • Sent families direct checks to get through the pandemic, which helped cut Black and Latino poverty to record lows.
  • Expanded eligibility for the Affordable Care Act, which has led to a record number of enrollments in the ACA Marketplace.
  • Added 467,000 jobs to state and local governments in 2021 – the best year since 2001.
  • Boosted the amount of schools open in-person from 46% to 99% within one year.
