Respectfully, Toomey Thinks We’re Dummies!

PHILADELPHIA, PA — After a month of saying that he won’t fulfill his constitutional duty or even meet with President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Pat Toomey is trying to pull a fast one. Get this:

Ahh, yes how “courteous” and “respectful” to refuse to do your taxpayer funded job.

Don’t be fooled by this blatant political spin: Toomey’s position hasn’t changed. He still thinks “it’s not that big a deal” that the high court is missing a Justice. And even though he’d be happy to “carefully consider” Merrick Garland’s nomination after the election, Toomey won’t do it now because Obama is in the White House. After polls showing an overwhelming majority of Pennsylvanians opposed to his position, an onslaught of negative media coverage and grassroots protests, Toomey is looking for a way out of his dead-end position.

“If Pat Toomey actually had ‘respect’ and ‘courtesy’ for President Obama and Judge Garland he would do his job and stop obstructing a vote,” said Preston Maddock, Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesman. “Relenting on meeting with Judge Garland proves Toomey knows his position threatens his re-election, but it doesn’t change the bottomline that from now until November Toomey will not do his job. Pennsylvanians are smarter than that and they’ll see right through this ploy.”
