ROUNDUP: Pennsylvania Democrats Rally In Support Of Our Judicial “Slate Of Eight”

Pennsylvania Democrats gathered in Pittsburgh yesterday to rally for the 2017 Democratic Judicial “Slate of Eight.” Governor Tom Wolf, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, Mayor Bill Peduto, Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Marcel L. Groen, and other party leaders addressed the vital importance of electing the Democratic judicial candidates to their respective courts.

The Democratic “Slate of Eight” includes:

  • Justice Debra Todd, for retention on the Supreme Court

  • Dwayne Woodruff, candidate for Supreme Court

  • Debbie Kunselman, candidate for Superior Court

  • Maria McLaughlin, candidate for Superior Court

  • Geoff Moulton, candidate for Superior Court

  • Carolyn Nichols, candidate for Superior Court

  • Ellen Ceisler, candidate for Commonwealth Court

  • Irene Clark, candidate for Commonwealth Court

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Gov. Wolf, Mayor Peduto throw political weight behind judicial nominees

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf joined Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald to campaign Tuesday for eight Democratic judicial nominees.

Appearing in the Allegheny County Courthouse, advocates for the state appellate court candidates said impartial jurists can be a bulwark against federal actions under President Donald Trump and the Republican Congress. Mr. Wolf presented the scene in Washington, D.C., as “alarming and dangerous.”

“We cannot afford to have that same kind of dysfunction move north to Pennsylvania,” he said. […]

Court decisions have set back a number of Trump administration initiatives, including an attempted restriction on immigration from some Muslim-majority countries.
