He said he was speaking on behalf of Pennsylvania citizens in saying, “We want to make sure people are welcome. I can’t speak to the legality. Allentown Morning Call: Bob Casey presses DHS on how immigration order was carried out in Philly

“The entry ban for citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries flies in the face of American history and values,” Casey wrote, urging Kelly to advise Trump to rescind the order. Protesters took to Allentown streets to protest President Donald Trump’s immigration ban. Casey wrote that he was “extremely disappointed” that Customs and Border Protection officials would not allow state or federal officials to meet with those who had been detained. Casey had joined those protesting the executive order Saturday evening at the Philadelphia airport, as did Gov. Tom Wolf and U.S. Reps. Bob Brady and Dwight Evans of Philadelphia.

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale also took the executive order to task Monday. “What we saw in Philadelphia — a scene that played out in airports across the country — when legal residents were detained was disgusting on many levels and made us look like a third-world country. The order was so poorly implemented by the Trump Administration that it looked like a drunken fantasy football draft party. The way people were treated at the airports was a travesty of justice.”
