PENNSYLVANIA — New reporting from The Hill highlights how Senate Republicans have been coalescing behind Trump’s Senate endorsements…with one notable exception:
“Likewise, some Republicans have become wary of Trump’s early endorsement of Parnell in the GOP primary to succeed retiring Sen. Pat Toomey (R) in Pennsylvania after a rival candidate revealed that Parnell’s wife had sought protective orders against him in 2017 and 2018.
Beyond that, establishment-aligned Republicans have expressed a sense of ease about the current slate of Trump-backed Senate candidates.“
This is far from the first time GOP insiders have expressed concern for this flawed field in what is sure to be a long and nasty primary.
Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Jack Doyle issued the following statement:
“When your baggage is so bad that Senate Republicans have deemed you the worst of Trump’s Senate picks, you know your campaign is in trouble. This primary continues to be a nightmare scenario for the GOP.”
