#TBT To When PA GOP Congressmen Voted To Take Health Care Away From 23 Million Americans

The CBO yesterday announced that Trumpcare will jeopardize health care for 23 million Americans, increase premiums for working families by 20% next year, charge an age tax on older Pennsylvanians, throw seniors who are in nursing homes on the street, raise health care costs for Pennsylvanians with pre-existing conditions, and make prescription drugs unaffordable for millions.

Today, Pennsylvania’s GOP Congressmen are awfully quiet after learning the ramifications of the health care bill they voted for. But they weren’t so quiet three weeks ago when they celebrated their reckless vote with Donald Trump in the Rose Garden. Let’s throw it back to see the remarks from the congressmen who voted for this bill:

Mike Kelly (PA-3): “With this bill, and future action taken by Congress and the Trump administration, American families and workers will be guaranteed access to affordable, high-quality health insurance.”

Scott Perry (PA-4): “I made a commitment to the people of my district to repeal the Affordable Care Act; and I have every intention of fulfilling that commitment.”

Glenn Thompson (PA-5): “Today, I voted in favor of repealing and replacing Obamacare and to advance a bill that aims to create a health care system that works for all Americans.”

Bill Shuster (PA-9): “The American Health Care Act is the first step of many in the right direction.”

Tom Marino (PA-10): “I am happy to announce that I have fulfilled that promise by voting with my colleagues in the House to pass the American Health Care Act.”

Lou Barletta (PA-11): “This bill is not the final product, but rather a starting point for a better health care plan.”

Keith Rothfus (PA-12): “The American Health Care Act is a solution that addresses both coverage for those with pre-existing conditions and affordability for everyone.”

Lloyd Smucker (PA-16): “The American Health Care Act will help ensure Pennsylvanians have access to the care they need at a price they can afford.”

Tim Murphy (PA-18): “Murphy Votes To Rescue Southwestern Pennsylvania From Failing Health Care Law”

“It is unconscionable and unacceptable that Pennsylvania’s Republican representatives support this disastrous plan which will send out-of-pocket costs skyrocketing hurting families and older Pennsylvanians the most,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Brandon Cwalina. “When Pennsylvanians go to the polls in 2018, they will not forget that these congressmen put politics over the health and well-being of their constituents.”
