This Time Last Year, McCormick Ran Away When Asked How He Could Win the GOP Primary Without Trump’s Endorsement
PENNSYLVANIA — As David McCormick considers entering the messy GOP primary, he faces the same tough questions he did last year. This time last year, McCormick took off and ran away from Chuck Todd when asked how he could win the primary without Trump’s support.
The incident happened a week after Trump trashed McCormick at the “Save America” rally after endorsing Dr. Oz over McCormick. In his remarks, Trump slammed McCormick as a “Wall Street Republican” and “the candidate of special interests.”
David McCormick is likely to face serious problems in a GOP primary after Trump’s attacks over his connections to China and Washington special interests – vulnerabilities that could still hurt McCormick with the GOP base today. Polling even shows McCormick trailing Doug Mastriano in a Republican primary.
