PENNSYLVANIA — Senator Bob Casey joined Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy and other senators — Democrat and Republican — on Wednesday to demand much-needed action on gun control. “We can take action,” said Senator Casey. “We’ve got to do a long list of things to deal with gun violence to reduce that number of 33,000 Americans dying every year because we refuse, the Congress of the United States refuses, to take any action at all.”

US Senator Bob Casey announced Monday that he is introducing legislation that would prevent those convicted of criminal acts based on hate from owning firearms. “If you have proven you will commit criminal acts based on hate, you absolutely should not have access to a gun,” Casey said during Monday’s press conference. “It’s common sense. It is time we as members of Congress do something.” Current cosponsors of the legislation include Democratic Senators Chris Murphy, Richard Blumenthal, Barbara Boxer, Kirsten Gillibrand and Senator Tammy Baldwin.
