WHAT THEY’RE SAYING ABOUT MEHMET OZ’S CARPETBAGGER CANDIDACY: “OZ’S SOCIAL MEDIA STILL FREQUENTLY SHOW HIM AT HIS NORTH JERSEY MANSION”

PENNSYLVANIA — After Mehmet Oz became the latest candidate in this crowded, flawed and well-funded primary field, it became clear that Oz’s residency in New Jersey is going to be a factor in this race. Read what they’re saying about Oz’s carpetbagging candidacy:

Philadelphia InquirerSenate candidate Mehmet Oz says he’s a Pennsylvania resident now. So why’s he still hanging out in his New Jersey mansion?

“Oz’s social media still frequently show him at his North Jersey mansion, long after he says he moved to Pennsylvania. More than 20 posts in the last three months alone appear to show him at his Cliffside Park home, some with New York in the background, others showing the interiors of the house that have been displayed in earlier video clips and magazine profiles.”

Associated Press, Rich? Want to be a U.S. senator? Welcome to Pennsylvania!

“A campaign aide has not answered questions about whether Oz actually sleeps at his in-laws’ home in suburban Philadelphia — where he is registered to vote — and makes the long commute to work in New York City.”

The Hill, GOP grapples with chaotic Senate primary in Pennsylvania

“Oz is expected to be pressed on his Turkish dual citizenship and his service in the Turkish military as well as over pushing diet pills and other medical advice that have been criticized as questionable or inaccurate. Meanwhile, while he attended the University of Pennsylvania for his medical and business degrees, he has long lived in New Jersey.”

WESA, Oz faces residency questions as he begins U.S. Senate campaign. The law appears to be on his side

“‘I don’t think that [legal] hurdle is particularly hard to get over, but the acceptance hurdle…among the primary electorate in the Republican party seems much more significant,” [Professor Chris Borick] said. ‘There’s a gigantic difference between proving legal residence to be able to run and proving to voters that you really are part of that entity, in this case the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and that you’re not just looking for an opportunity,’ Borick said.”
