Chairman’s Statement On Sen. Sanders’ Endorsement Of Sec. Clinton

PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Marcel L. Groen released the following statement in response to Senator Bernie Sanders’ endorsement of Secretary Hillary Clinton:

“I want to congratulate Senator Sanders on running a campaign of ideas. No one can deny the influence he’s had over this election, and I believe that the Democratic Party will be stronger because he ran. I also want to welcome the new Democrats that Senator Sanders brought into the party and to the democratic process as a whole. We look forward to working with them at the convention and beyond to shape the future of the country that we love — a future that will be more fair, more just, and more equal for everyone.

“When Democrats gather in Philadelphia later this month, we will do so as a united party. Together, we will fight for an increase in the sustainable minimum wage for all hard-working Americans. We will help make college more affordable. We will address the wealth gap to make sure that everyone can have the means to achieve success.

“And, this month, we will nominate Hillary Clinton as their party’s nominee for President of the United States. Hillary Clinton has fought her entire life for women, children, and families,  and she’ll fight to make an economy work for everyone, not just those at the top.

“Democrats win when we work together. It is now up to all of us, Clinton and Sanders supporters alike, to ensure that a Democrat remains in the White House and that Democrats take back the U.S. Senate. Again I thank Bernie Sanders for running a campaign we can all be proud of, and I congratulate Hillary Clinton for earning his endorsement.”
