Governor Wolf Signs Anti-Bullying Law

GOVERNOR WOLF SIGNS ANTI-BULLYING LAW

PENNSYLVANIA — Governor Tom Wolf has been committed to making Pennsylvania a safer place for all of its citizens. He signed a law giving medical marijuana access to patients who need it and executive orders to protect LGBT Pennsylvanians.

On Tuesday, Governor Wolf signed a bill that would help teachers prevent bullying and hazing in middle and high schools, in addition to college campuses. This law will protect students at every level from bullying and will give school districts the authority they need to stop hazing.

“This expansion of the current anti-hazing law, which currently applies only to institutes of higher education, is a huge step in keeping Pennsylvania students protected from bullying and abuse,” Governor Wolf said in a statement. “Children need to feel safe during the school day, as well as after school, in order to achieve the highest educational success. This bill will allow schools take necessary steps to help ensure that.”

Governor Tom Wolf signed new legislation today with the hope of cracking down on hazing. The legislation requires school boards to adopt an anti-hazing police.
