ICYMI: ONE INTERVIEW, ONE SIMPLE QUESTION, THREE DODGES BY BILL MCSWAIN

“McSwain, the former U.S. attorney for the state’s Eastern District, got that job because President Donald Trump appointed him. He knows the law so he knows the law says Biden is the legitimately elected president. Just don’t ask him to say it.”

PENNSYLVANIA — Bill McSwain is determined to dodge any and all questions that force him to admit what we already know: the 2020 election was safe and secure, and Donald Trump lost fair and square. This time, McSwain refused to answer the simple, yes or no question, “Is Joe Biden the legitimately elected president of the United States?” — despite being asked three times!

Pennsylvanians are living with the consequences of the election lies peddled by power-hungry politicians like McSwain — including Harrisburg Republicans’ complete disregard for the security of Pennsylvanians’ private, personal information. By repeating Trump’s lies, McSwain is giving Republicans cover to subpoena the social security and driver’s license numbers of nine million Pennsylvanians, ignoring everyday voters and cyber security experts who have expressed serious concerns with the fraudit.

McSwain has only been a candidate for two weeks, but he’s already established a reputation for dodging questions. That isn’t going unnoticed as Times-Tribune reporter Borys Krawczeniuk slammed McSwain for refusing to answer his simple questions about the validity of the 2020 presidential election, saying he, “Can’t, won’t say it.”

Can’t, won’t say it

In a visit 10 days ago to Linde Corp. in Pittston Twp., Bill McSwain joined fellow Republican gubernatorial candidate Lou Barletta in an inability to admit President Joe Biden is the legitimately elected president.

McSwain, the former U.S. attorney for the state’s Eastern District, got that job because President Donald Trump appointed him. He knows the law so he knows the law says Biden is the legitimately elected president. Just don’t ask him to say it.

Times-Tribune: You’ve talked a lot about honest elections. Is Joe Biden the legitimately elected president of the United States?

McSwain: Biden is the president. Unfortunately, he is the president. And unfortunately, he’s a bad president, in my opinion.

McSwain cited Biden’s handling of Afghanistan, inflation and “out of control spending.” So we asked again.

Times-Tribune: Legitimately elected, that was the question, yes or no?

McSwain: My answer is he’s the president and he’s a bad president.

Times-Tribune: Was the election stolen from Donald Trump?

McSwain: He (Biden) is the president and he’s a bad president.

McSwain made news in July when Trump released a letter McSwain wrote to him June 9.

In the letter, McSwain said his U.S. attorney’s office wanted to investigate “allegations of voter fraud and election irregularities,” but Attorney General Bill Barr told him not to make any public statements and ordered him to pass on allegations to state Attorney General Josh Shapiro for investigation.

“I disagreed with that decision, but those were my orders.”

After the letter came out, Barr told the Philadelphia Inquirer that McSwain’s claim was untrue and he gave U.S. attorneys leeway to look into “any specific, credible allegations of major fraud.”

“The letter is written in a very deceptive way that is intended to convey an impression, it’s a false one, that he was restrained from looking into election fraud,” Barr said.
