PENNSYLVANIA – Today, Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chair Nancy Patton Mills released a statement on the confirmation hearings for Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court:
“President Trump and Washington Republicans have never been closer to destroying our health care system than they are with this nomination. If confirmed, Judge Amy Coney Barrett could be seated just in time to rule on his reckless lawsuit — which is slated to begin just one week after the election — to dismantle the entire Affordable Care Act (ACA). This one decision could rip away protections for people with pre-existing conditions like asthma, diabetes and even COVID-19 — allowing insurance companies to charge more for or reject coverage all together.
Make no mistake: the health of our families is on the line with this nomination and health care is on the ballot in November. While Trump and Republicans want to rip away coverage and access, Democrats — led by Joe Biden — want to build on the Affordable Care Act to ensure that every American has the chance to access quality, affordable care.”
