Yesterday, SB 300, co-sponsored by Scott Wagner, passed out of the finance committee. This bill would defund Planned Parenthood, which provides health services for over 90,000 Pennsylvanians, and decrease women’s access to birth control, mammograms, and cancer screenings and treatments. As a co-sponsor, Scott Wagner has made his irresponsible stance on women’s health issues very clear. But we’ve yet to hear where gubernatorial candidate Paul Mango stands on this ridiculous attempt to slam the door on women’s access to health care.
“While the bill to defund Planned Parenthood gains more legislative traction, cowardly Paul Mango is continuing to hide his position on the bill from Pennsylvanians,” said Beth Melena, communications director for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. “Paul Mango says he is a health care expert, but his shady hiding on women’s health care issues says otherwise. If Paul Mango is going to run for governor, he needs to stop being such a coward and tell us where he stands on stripping health care decisions away from women.”
